Who we are
This website belongs to Balanced Ergonomics — Jo Davis, DSE & Vehicle Assessor. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page.
If you have a question about your information, please get in touch using the contact form on our home page.
What we collect and why
- Enquiries. Our contact form does not send anything to our website. When you press Send Enquiry it opens your own email program with your message filled in, and nothing is passed on until you choose to send that email. When you do, we receive your name, email address, organisation (if you give it) and your message. We use them to reply, and to arrange and carry out any assessment you ask for.
- Visit statistics. Each time a page is viewed we record the date and time, the page, the website that linked to us (if any) and whether the device was a computer, phone or tablet. Instead of your IP address we store a scrambled code made from it, which changes every day, so visits can be counted without identifying you. This tells us how many people use the site. It uses no cookies and nothing is stored on your device.
- Website server logs. Like every website, the server records the IP address, browser type and pages requested for each visit. These logs are used only to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted automatically after 14 days.
We rely on our legitimate interests in running this website and responding to you. When you ask us about an assessment, we use your details to take the steps you have asked for before any agreement is made.
Who sees it
Your enquiry is seen only by Jo. We never sell your information or use it for advertising. The website and its visit statistics are hosted for us by our web developer, Lee James Apps, on a server in the UK (London). They look after the site on our behalf and do not use your information for anything else. Emails you send us are handled by our email provider.
How long we keep it
Enquiries: for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows. Server logs: 14 days. Visit statistics do not identify you and are kept for as long as they remain useful for understanding how the site is used.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies, and does not store anything else on your device.
We use no advertising, social media or third-party tracking tools. Our fonts and images are served from our own website rather than from outside services, and visit statistics are recorded on our web developer’s own server, not by an analytics company, so opening a page does not share your visit with anyone else. That is why you do not see a cookie banner.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
